the original artwork used for the front cover of The Spectator magazine, published on 12th September, 1970, a double ‘big head’ portrait of the General Secretary of the TUC, Vic Feather (1908-1976), seated astride the prostrate figure of the leader of the Labour Party, Harold Wilson (1916-1995). Feather had risen through the ranks of the Trades Union Congress and served as General Secretary from 1969 to 1973. Harold Wilson twice served as British Prime Minister, from 1964 to 1970, and from 1974 to 1976.

Richard Willson (1939-2011) began as a cartoonist for The Observer in 1968, before moving to The Times and Sunday Times in the early 1970s. His popular and distinctive work also frequently appeared in The Spectator, Washington Post, New Statesman, and New Scientist,.
