‘also the line of Navigation from the principal Sea Ports to both home and Foreign Stations’, rare second edition of this early rail map, issued by the most famous name associated with railway travel and timetables, George Bradshaw (1800-1853). It was first issued in 1843 with a companion sheet detailing the completed lines of the principal railway companies, their chairmen, secretaries engineers and bankers. This updated edition from the following year has the amended title to include the reference to additional proposed lines, a text line below the scale indicating these are marked in red. The ornately lettered title is above both in the upper right corner. The map itself extends north into Scotland only as far as the Isle of Mull and Forfar, but includes the east coast of Ireland and a section of the north coast of France, all within a decorative printed border,
