Charles Stanley Pollitt (1888-1965), painter and printmaker, was a follower of the Pre-Raphaelites having trained as the studio assistant of William Holman Hunt. Later he travelled and worked on the Continent, including as a copyist at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, then becoming Professor of English at the Vatican..
