bird’s-eye, folding, pocket plan of London, extending from Primrose Hill to Wandsworth and from Ravenscourt Park in Hammersmith to London Docks, with stylised buildings, trees in parks and gardens, railways and viaducts, the more prominent public buildings enlarged and labelled, and the major roads named and picked out in white. The title cartouche is in the upper right corner, a list of places of interest in the upper left. An inset plan of ‘Clubland’, in the lower left corner, shows the huge concentration of private members’ clubs in the Mayfair, Piccadilly and St James’s area, while a corresponding inset of ‘Theatreland’, lower right, indicates all the theatres, concert and variety halls, and cinemas in the wider West End of London.
Geographia Ltd. was first established in the Strand, in 1911, but moved to 55 Fleet Street in 1923. By the early 1940s, it had moved again to 167 Fleet St, from where it continued to publish updated variants of this decorative London plan..
